Snowsports are fun whatever level you are at and learning to ski or snowboard should have you smiling and laughing all the way down the hill. The resort you choose, however, can make a big difference, so in this section we've put together some top tips to smooth over that bumpy start.

Top Tips for Beginners

When booking ask if there are any 'Learn to Ski or Snowboard Packages'. This may include lessons, gear rental and a lift pass if needed.

In many cases a full pass may not be needed for the first few days so check before buying one.

 Stay in slope-side accommodation.

Rent gear to start with, including a helmet - it's a lot cheaper!.

Pre-book your lessons if you are travelling at peak dates and make sure you have wintersports insurance.

Don't forget to put suncream on - even if it's not sunny - and to wear good sunglasses or goggles.
